Welcome
Welcome to the website of the Southern Heartland Arts, Inc., which is a non-profit organization created to promote the love of the visual arts in our community. We are located on the historic town square in Covington, Georgia, an Atlanta, Georgia suburb.
About Us
Southern Heartland Arts, Inc. was established as a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization in 1988 by a small group of local artists interested in the visual arts. According to its constitution, the principal mission is to “promote the love of art in all forms, and to encourage all art interests in home and community”. There are two separate entities under the umbrella organization: Southern Heartland Art Guild and Southern Heartland Art Gallery. Guild membership is open to anyone with an interest in the visual arts, whether artist or appreciator of art. Meetings are held four times annually. Join the Guild! The gallery offers members an art facility in which to display and sell their works as well as opportunities for the general public to enhance their skills and knowledge through on-site lessons, workshops, demonstrations and weekly drop-in painting sessions. The gallery is filled with fine art and smaller gift items and cards, perfect for any occasion. From paintings to jewelry, pottery, photography, wood, and folk art - the work is truly exceptional, highly collectible and will be treasured for years to come. We offer quality custom framing and carry a large array of artist’s grade art supplies, as well. When ever you have a gift need or want to treat yourself to something truly special, please remember the Southern Heartland Art Gallery.
Continuing Education
The gallery offers a variety of weekly classes for adults and children, as well as periodic workshops by renowned artists. Free critiques and demonstrations are given at many of the general guild meetings. Members can also take advantage of weekly, drop-in painting sessions with gallery artists and a library containing a wide range of art books and magazines. Gallery Southern Heartland Art Gallery is a cooperative, which is owned and operated by a group of member artists. New gallery members must be juried in by the current gallery artists and must sign a contract agreeing to abide by all gallery guidelines for a period of one year.
