A Few of My Favorites

Ron Manson returned to fine art photography in 1995, blending decades of experience with emerging digital technology.
After earning a BFA in Photography from Ohio University in 1965, Ron served as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Navy before continuing his career in public affairs and management with Southern Bell and later BellSouth. Upon retirement, he revisited his roots in fine art photography—this time with a digital lens.
A charter member of the Southern Heartland Art Gallery, Ron’s photography journey began much earlier, in 1957, as chief photographer for his hometown daily newspaper, The Piqua Call. In 1997, he played a key role in transitioning The Covington News to digital photography, building an extensive visual archive of Newton County in the process.
Ron is an award-winning photojournalist, recognized by the Sigma Delta Chi Society of Professional Journalists and the Georgia Press Association. His work has been exhibited in multiple venues and reflects a distinctive style shaped by both formal training and years in the field.
His digital fine art photography carries the influence of his photojournalism background—capturing real moments with clarity, composition, and a deep sense of place.
