Primary Discipline -

Jewelry

Janice Baulkmon Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, with formative summers spent along the coast of Georgia, Janice draws deep inspiration from the contrasting landscapes that shaped her early life. Now based in Covington, Georgia, her work reflects a lifelong connection to nature, animals, and the quiet strength found in the natural world.

My art is rooted in a deep love for God’s creation and the stories carried within nature. Whether I am painting or creating jewelry, I am drawn to the balance of strength and fragility — the quiet resilience found in animals, natural materials, and the world around us. I hope my work invites others to pause, look closer, and discover the beauty and strength born through life’s journey.

Janice Baulkmon Is a self-taught artist born with an innate creative spirit, she works fluidly in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. Her paintings incorporate watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pastel, while her jewelry embraces natural stones, bone, leather, shells, and materials she views as sacred gifts from the land and sea. Each element carries a story, shaped by time, pressure, and persistence. Recurring throughout her work is a reverence for God’s creations and the transformative struggle that produces beauty and strength. She is particularly drawn to the tension between fragility and power — the softness in a horse’s eye contrasted with the commanding strength of its jaw and musculature. Her art seeks to reveal both the seen and unseen processes of nature and the quiet resilience embedded within them. Janice’s work can be viewed at Southern Heartland Art Gallery in Covington, Georgia; the Madison Cultural Arts Center in Madison, Georgia; within the Covington Piedmont Hospital collection; online at ShagXpiedmont.com and at DustyRoseArts.com. Through every medium she touches, she invites viewers to witness the beauty born from struggle and the enduring strength woven into creation itself.
