Before You Apply

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Gallery Artist with Southern Heartland Art Gallery.

For more than two decades, Southern Heartland has supported artists by providing opportunities to exhibit original artwork, build relationships within the creative community, and enrich Newton County through the visual arts. Today, we continue that mission while preparing for the next chapter of our gallery's future.

We welcome artists who are committed to quality craftsmanship, originality, and active participation in our creative community.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should be prepared to:

• Create and exhibit original artwork.

• Maintain a body of work suitable for exhibition.

• Participate in gallery meetings, events, and activities as opportunities arise.

• Support the mission and values of Southern Heartland Art Gallery.

• Commit to a one-year Gallery Artist membership if accepted.

How Applications Are Reviewed

Every application is carefully reviewed by the Gallery Artists.

Artwork is evaluated on several factors, including:

• Quality and craftsmanship

• Originality

• Overall design

• Professional presentation

• Marketability

• How the work complements the current gallery collection

• Consistency and depth of the artist's body of work

What You'll Need

Before beginning your application, please have the following ready:

• Your contact information

• A short artist biography or résumé

• Information about recent exhibitions, organizations, or artistic affiliations

• Five photographs of your current artwork

• The title and retail price for each submitted piece

After You Apply

Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Gallery Director and shared with the Gallery Artists for consideration. You will be contacted regarding the status of your application after the review process is complete.
